Windows 7 start edition 去掉了三個應用程式的限制了

Windows 7 將會在今年推出，目前微軟規劃了 Windows 7 的數個版本，其中最低階的是 starter edition，原先微軟為了區隔市場，在這版本加入了一個限制，同時只能執行三個應用軟體（當然是扣掉防毒、防火牆這類軟防毒防駭軟體之後），這顯至歷經網路知撻伐討論之後。微軟放棄了只能 starter edition 只能執行三個應用軟體的限制了。而目前微軟針對 starter edition 的限制主要有：

• Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the "Windows Basic" or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
  
  沒有吃資源的 Aero 特效 ，YA。
• Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.
  少了一些個人化設定如換桌布、提示音等？！(還是說有限制，看得不是很明白）
  
• The ability to switch between users without having to log off.
  要登出之後才能切換使用者，以 starter edition 針對 netbook 來說，還好拉(還有真對地三世界，怎麼都不提）
• Multi-monitor support.
  多螢幕支援，很少用到的功能，沒差
• DVD playback.
  DVD 播放能力，裝個 powerdvd 就好了，沒差
• Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media.
  沒有 WMC 來錄影或觀看影片，一樣裝第三方就可以了，那個 potplayer不錯用
• Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer.
  DLNA 功能，裝個 tversity 也可以
• Domain support for business customers.
  沒差，這版本是 sarter edition 專業功能少一些也好
• XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.
  XP Mode ，有 Virtual box 自己弄也可以

這樣看來，如果不要專業功能，starter edition 對入門者來說，很夠用了。
